Volunteering

If you want a new hobby, then this could be for you!

Most volunteers give at least one regular half day a week commitment

but most give two and we meet on Sunday and Wednesday mornings

between 9am to Midday. If you can only do one session a month you

will still be welcome.

Train operations require a greater commitment to maintain the service

which starts on Good Friday and finishes on the last weekend in

September. We cover Bank Holidays, and during the school summer

long break we run 6 days per week, starting at 1 pm and finishing

around 5 pm excluding Mondays.
We welcome people who would enjoy keeping this miniature railway

running by doing a wide variety of jobs. Broadly speaking we are after

help with practical jobs such as Gardening, Painting, Woodwork,

Metalwork and, if you have the skills, for various Mechanical and

Electrical engineering projects. For train operations, we have a need for

Guards and Drivers plus Ticket Sales volunteers, for which a uniform is

provided. Training is given for safety critical roles and age limits do

apply but for all volunteers the minimum age is 18 with no upper age

limit.
